My Story: Overcoming Burnout 2
Let's continue with my story.
Beginning you can find in About section.
So, I made an appointment with a psychology specialist, but unfortunately, they are usually swamped and booked for a few months already.
I waited for that meeting for more than six weeks. You are alone with issue, and nobody can help you until that meeting with the psychologist. At that moment, my symptoms were:
- Continuous headaches and painkillers didn't work
- Tired all the time
- I almost didn't sleep during the night
- I had a lot of ideas in my head, but my body wasn't capable of doing something
- I couldn't go upstairs; my heartbeat was crazy, I was sweating and was breathing like I ran 1km.
- I couldn't read anything; I forgot the previous sentence immediately after I read it.
- Without concentration, I could put my keys inside the freezer without memorizing them and searching for them for another few hours.
It was killing me slowly. Even before burnout, I hated to be sick; I hated to lay down in bed. I needed continuous actions. And I was locked by my body.
I was trying to escape from this trap, but I didn't know how.
I met with the psychologist, and unfortunately, he couldn't help me due to two reasons: I didn't speak Dutch, and I was in impaired mental and physical conditions, where only medication was needed to help me, and he was not allowed to prescribe anything.
I was in a panic, and I didn't know what to do. It took another eight weeks until I could visit the psychiatrist.
I realized I had to do something on my own; if not, I would probably die or get crazy.
